Canadian sports betting fan could be tempted to take a gamble on something a little different in the coming days as the Oscars awards ceremony approaches.

The 83rd Annual Academy Awards will take place on February 27th and will be attended by the biggest names in the world of film.

Many experts are predicting a successful evening for British actor Colin Firth following his captivating performance in The King’s Speech.

The amiable 50-year-old, whose past credits include Love Actually and A Single Man, is the heavy 1/33 favorite with 888 Sport to win the Best Actor category.

With those odds, it would appear foolhardy to back anyone else, but if you fancy an upset on the night then James Franco is 14/1 to take the gong for his part in adventure thriller 127 Hours.

The King’s Speech is 1/6 to be awarded Best Film, with The Social Network rated as 7/2 second-favourite.

Gripping drama Black Swan, starring Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis, is 40/1, the same odds as True Grit.

In the category of Best Supporting Actor, Christian Bale, another Brit, is 1/6 favorite, while The King’s Speech’s Geoffrey Rush is 7/2.

Portman is 1/12 to be crowned Best Actress for her astounding performance in Black Swan, while Nicole Kidman, who has already won the category once, is a 40/1 outsider for her role in Rabbit Hole.

One category in which The King’s Speech is expected to lose out is Best Director, for which The Social Network’s David Fincher is 8/13 favourite.

Melissa Leo, who played Alice Ward in The Fighter, is 4/11 favorite to go home with the Best Supporting Actress award.
