Copa Libertadores Free Picks: Universidad Católica vs. Peñarol
One of the biggest clubs in South America who has won the most amount of titles in Uruguay and had won the Copa Libertadores three times is at the doors of qualifying to the next round with just keeping the score the way it is. Peñarol right now is the best candidate to win the title, they have sent home teams like Internacional who have a great squad, and have been always a top performer on this competition.
Coming from winning at home during the first leg of the quarter –finals, Peñarol will go to Chile this week to prove why the odds lean towards them to advance. In that occasion, the home team with goals of Juan Manuel Olivera and Alejandro Martunuccio surprised twice the Catolica’s goalie. Clearly Catolica got to this game with a lot of respect, they missed a few chances to goal and their goalkeeper was a swindle making two huge mistakes on the two Peñarol’s goals. Despite, Catolica excepting their goalkeeper didn’t play so bad; it was matter of luck they never had the chance to score. Catolica is a university team based on a University campus that makes me think on the greatest opportunities their players probably have. For sure the same University gives them scholarships to improve them in a professional way, that’s great. Is not only about soccer is about formation, discipline and success. Last weekend on their own country tables, Catolica tied with their most immediate rival Universidad de Chile, this one is the best game on the Chile division and that’s why is considered as a Derby. On the other side, Peñarol saw how River Plate from Uruguay defeated them by a bulky score of four to one. Catolica is first on the table with 37 points, setting them already at the Copa Sudamericana to be played next semester. Peñarol is third with 22 points and still fighting for a spot to this tournament. Having sports gambler background, I will suggest you to take Universidad Catolica, being favorite and if you find any proposition for the advance take Peñarol. Cheers!
