Golf Picks: Cheyenne Woods Wins ACC Conference Tournament
Though Tiger Woods the greatest player in the history of golf can`t get back to his winning ways that don`t mean that the name Woods can`t be on top of a leaderboard come the last day of a tournament. I`m talking about none other than the niece of Tiger Woods and her name is Cheyenne Nicole Woods she is the daughter of Earl Dennison Woods Jr. who is the older half brother of Tiger.
Currently she is a Junior at Wake Forest and so far he talents have shown just what she is made of. Before heading of to college she was attending Xavier College Preparatory where she won back to back Arizona 5A State championships in 2006 and 2007 so it`s a well known that she has the talent for the game.
While her time at Wake Forest she has set some records for the Demon Deacons in the Spring of 2010 she played all ten events that were on the calendar for the Deacons and she finished with the lowest single season scoring average in school history with a solid 73.47 which I`m sure her uncle of a matter of fact any uncle would be more than proud of. Another great achievement that Cheyenne has accomplished while in college was during the Summer of 2010 she teamed up with Michelle Shin to win the inaugural Hooters women`s team championship, during this event she carded the lowest round in each of the final two days and managed to shot and incredible fifteen under par for those two given rounds.
This past week it was time for Cheyenne and her fellow Demon Deacons to head to Greensboro, North Carolina where they would play the ACC Golf Championship at Sedgefield Country Club. Things did not go as well as expected for the Wake Forest even though they started of well with a strong 296 score for day one. They could not keep up the solid play on Day two and shot an 310 which took them out of contention, though they did finish strong with an 298 which was the lowest team score for the final day they placed a disappointing 4th, but for Cheyenne it was a whole different story. She shot all three rounds under par and shot a final round 68 which was the best of the day and the third best score of the tournament. When all was set and done and the scores were added up she stood at 208 which gave her an five under par total for and impressive seven shot win over Allie White from the University of North Carolina. Hopefully uncle Tiger can have some of her good play rub of on him so that we can once again enjoy watching him win on the Big Boys Tour.
