This week on the ATP circuit we have a total of three tournaments and only one is being played on the US continent that event is the Farmers Classic which is known in the tennis world as the Los Angeles Open. The two other events this week are the Credit Agricole Suisse Open which takes place in Switzerland; the other ATP tournament is the ATP Studena Croatia Open and no need to say where this is being played the title says it all Croatia!

The first time this tournament was held was in 1927, when it was played at the Los Angeles Tennis Club; with Bill Tilden winning the tournament. It is now being played at the Los Angeles Tennis Center at UCLA, which was built in order to host the 1984 Summer Olympics. The event has been known for attracting high caliber players and some of the past winners reflect just that with the list including: Andre Agassi, Michael Chang, Pete Sampras, Jimmy Connors and John McEnroe. In the doubles department it is so surprising that the past winners include the Bryan brothers, but Bob and Mike have not only won the event, they have dominated it and currently sit with an incredible six wins here in Los Angeles.

The favorite was Mardy Fish before the end of this past week and now with the win that he got last week in Atlanta, he will be an even more favorite to walk away with the title. It will be an interesting atmosphere at the tournament with Sam Querrey, the two time defending champion not being in the field to make a run at a three-peat, but that’s ok this will give the other players a better chance at winning.
