Good, Better, Best

Its time. Drafts are really starting to get serious as the preseason winds down. Some of the preseason action has given us reason to believe in the unheralded youngsters while there have been some serious stars absent enough for the fantasy folks to start worrying. Do you draft Peyton Manning the same spot you would have with his injury uncertainty? How about Maurice Jones Drew and his knee dilemma? Are handcuffs more important now? Im not here to draw out all the scenarios, the answers to all the questions, but Ive definitely come across some differences in opinion.

The Youngstown Phantoms have scheduled five preseason games as they prepare for Youngstown’s third season in the United States Hockey League. The Phantoms will visit Team USA and Muskegon before heading out to Sioux City, Iowa for the 2011 USHL Fall Classic.

The Phantoms first two exhibition games will take place the weekend before the Fall Classic. The Phantoms first tune-up is against Team USA on Friday, September 16, at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube. The rivalry between the Phantoms and the Muskegon Lumberjacks will be renewed in the pre-season on Saturday, September 17, when the Phantoms make their first trip of the year to L.C. W

It may only be a preseason game, but the preseason tilt between the New England Patriots vs. Detroit Lions will feature two undefeated teams that have looked great in preseason.

The Detroit Lions have shown some very positive things so far in the 2011 Preseason, but remember, it’s only the preseason. Don’t forget the 4-0 Lions in the preseason a few years back and yet they did not win a game in the regular season. The San Francisco Giants are a light hitting team but that could be about to change as they have signed Carlos Beltran from the New York Mets and he starts tonight. In the previous two matches of the series the score is locked at one all. These two sides met in the World Series last year and they are both having good season’s again. Giants have scored two runs in both the first matches and that could be enough again as they have Tim Lincecum on the mound. He has been ill this week but starts tonight. He is a tough pitcher with an ERA of just 2.90. In his last seven starts Lincecum has gone for nine runs from seven matches and pitched forty-four innings.
