CLASSY mare Voler La Vedette recorded the 11th win of her career in fine style when she cruised to victory in the Lismullen Hurdle at Navan on Sunday.

The Colm Murphy-trained seven-year-old, who was ridden by Andrew Lynch, travelled strongly at the back of the eight-runner field and made good progress to mount her challenge.

She quickened away from Mikael D’Haguenet, who was third, after the second-last hurdle and secured a cosy victory from the running-on Fully Funded.

Newcastle v Everton kicks off this weekends live football action from the Premier League and Alan Pardews side can go second for a few hours at least with a win. This looks a tough game to call, not because I expect Newcastle to slip up at some point but more to do with Everton being such a tricky team to predict and they are rarely a pushover. I have to say Everton are in danger of just making up the numbers this season, even this early in the campaign. Theyre too good to go down but they have already lost so much ground to those challenging for Europe its difficult to see them going on such a good run of results with the resources available to make up that gap.

They didnt disgrace themselves in defeat to Man Utd or Chelsea on their last two starts but they always set themselves up well against the top teams.

Detroit and Pens are the best NHL teams in last years, Tampa and Phi were very strong last season while Ottawa and Florida are playing well(in some matches even very well)in this season.
